- Rediscover PEACE

The Youth Group gathered in south Portugal for the first event of "Spotlight Values - A Look At What Make Us Shine" that took the light of human values to the cities of Tavira and Faro.

When: On 30th April 2011, Saturday
For: Young adults (18-35 years old)
Where: Faro
In Faro, nine young adults attended to the Spotlight Values event at the BK Centre, and were able to EXPLORE, EXPRESS and SHARE peace. In small groups, they had a chance to create a human sculpture representing peace, a cooking recipe for a peaceful life and a poem/lyric on peace. After sharing their very inspiring creations, they were conducted into a smooth and tranquil meditation moment allowing them to experience peace deep within. At the end, all participants were very satisfied with the experience and the time spent in a different afternoon, but in a very worthwhile way.

Youths of Tavira’s high school had a chance to shine with this initiative dedicated to the value of PEACE. The program took place on the library of the school in two sessions where all participants were invited to EXPLORE, EXPRESS and SHARE peace. After a brief introduction on the theme that allowed them to reflect on what is peace and where peace comes from, the youths express their creativity in small groups: a joint human sculpture that could be an inspiration of peace and a cooking recipe for peace containing the main ingredients and seasonings for a peaceful life were created; then the peace expressions of each group were shared to the all class. A relaxation exercise was conducted at the end allowing them to silently experience peace. It is amazing how youths can shine when they have the opportunity to involve themselves with values. The final product of their expressions surprised everyone. We hope that the light of peace continues to shine in their minds and hearts.
